With the Tour de Fleece, I got back to regularly posting
about what was happening. It was good to
share thoughts and all. I am hoping to
get back to posting regularly. No promises.
But I am hopeful.
I needed a project to take in the car when we went to pick
up Elder Munchkin from the bus home from her camp. She gets to have an awesome experience at a
camp in the Adirondacks. The trip to the
bus is about an hour & 20-30 minutes.
And on the drop off, I didn't have a knitting project!! *gasp*
DH reminded me that I should grab a project for the trip to
pick her up. I wanted something that I
could grab & go. So I took the
Dragonfly sock blank I have. No yarn
winding required. Though why I grabbed
size 1 needles when I normally use 0 for the foot is a bit of a mystery... But I did.
I went with a free pattern on Ravelry called Speckled SpaceSocks. It isn't a challenging pattern. But it does have something going on every
row. And so far, they also all have
cables. Only two stitch cables. But it
still requires checking the chart & making sure I do it correctly. There are also these stitches with YOs you
drop every other row. Which definitely
requires looking at them. So not
mindless tv knitting. But I can watch
some things while knitting it. But not
things were I need to focus on the screen.
So I wanted to get another project on my needles. I had the beautiful Into the Whirled Batt in
the Cattywumpus colorway that I spun for the TdF. I knew I wanted it to end up as a cowl. Honestly, I still don't know if it will be
mine or Elder Munchkin's. But since it
is woolen, a cowl is great given the limited yardage. Better than a scarf as it loops around the
neck. Harder for either of us to
lose. *grin*
I went to the Honey Cowl again. I knit this once already with a handspun ItW
batt! Mind you, I can't seem to *find*
it... May still be in one of the boxes
that aren't unpacked from the move LAST JULY!
Or it got unpacked & put somewhere I can't recall... Fun with moving. *laugh*
I cast on 140 sts.
Wanted it to be able to double wrap around my neck. And will be short enough to EM to use it
single without tripping over it. It is a
super simple pattern & great for handspun and also tv knitting. It is also very smooshy. Nice and squishy which is great for a winter
cowl/scarf in woolen spun yarn!
Now I am trying to decide what to do with the ItW Polwarth/Silk
I spun during the TdF. I wanted enough
for a shawl. But at only 400+ yards for
8 oz. I am looking at the Curls patterns
by Hunter Hammersen. I have been admiring
them for a while. And think one could
work. The Argent one is
tempting. It is open which is good with
the yardage. And there are some
beautiful ones in handspun.
Still debating. But
that seems the most likely candidate as of the moment!
Almost supper time.
So best I finish this up. Or I
will keep amending it & never actually get it posted.
